20년 경력을 두 장의 CD에 압축한 베스트 앨범 [In And Out Of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990–2010] 발매를 앞두고 ‘테이크 댓’ 시절 동료 게리 발로우와 함께한 특별 추가 신곡 [SHAME].

영국 최고의 남성 팝 스타 로비 윌리엄스는 전세계적으로 5천7백만장, 싱글도 1천1백만장이라는 엄청난 판매량을 기록했다. 모두 일곱장의 솔로앨범이 UK 앨범 차트 1위에 오르는 대기록을 세웠고, 지난 20년 동안 여전히 영국 최고의 팝스타 자리에서 내려오지 않았다. 음악계에 데뷔한 지 20년이 지난 로비 윌리엄스가 자신의 이름으로 발표한 첫 솔로 앨범 「Life Thru A Lens」(1997)부터 가장 최근 정규 앨범이자 여덟 번째 정규 앨범 「Reality Killed The Video Star」(2009)를 모두 아우르는 2CD 베스트 앨범을 발매할 예정이다.

아마 팬들을 가장 흥미롭게 할 트랙은 이 베스트 앨범을 위해 특별히 추가한 신곡 [Shame]이다. 놀랍게도 13년 동안 만나지 않았던 테이크 댓의 동료 게리 발로우(Gary Barlow)가 작곡과 보컬로 참여한 곡이다. 이미 알려진 대로 로비는 현재 테이크 댓에 합류하기로 선언한 상태이고, 다섯 명의 오리지널 라인업으로 완벽하게 재결성하는 테이크 댓은 올해 안으로 새 앨범을 공개할 예정이라고 밝혔다. [Shame]은 바로 그 위대한 비상의 서막인 셈이다. 인간관계의 갈등을 주제로 삼은 [Shame]을 처음 듣는 순간 비틀즈(The Beatles)의 명반 「The Beatles」(1968) 수록곡 [Blackbird]가 떠오를 정도로 흡사한 편곡과 연주, 멜로디 진행을 보여주고 있다. 게다가 싱글 발표일에 앞서 공개한 뮤직비디오가 퀴어무비의 한 장면을 떠올리게 하고 있어 이래저래 화제가 되고 있다. 또 하나의 신곡 [Heart And I]는 게리 발로우가 작곡에 참여했다고 한다. 결국 이 두 곡은 테이크 댓의 팬과 로비 윌리엄스의 팬의 스타덤이 합류하는 지점이 될 것이다.
